Memory Boxes

Scéal Heritage Consultancy take commissions to create bespoke Memory Boxes for libraries, community groups, and Active Age organisations. Memory Boxes are specially created boxes of objects chosen specifically to spark memories of the past, to remember places and events from our lives, and to encourage conversation and discussion amongst the people who handle the objects from them.

These boxes are regularly used as resources for engaging people with memory problems, such as those with dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease. The wide benefits of the boxes to stimulate memory and encourage engagement are hugely significant, and they are physical resources which use the practice of object-based recall and handling, and which explore the power of objects as tools for reminiscence and recognition.

The Memory Box includes a range of tactile and sensory objects, and are made available by their organisations for free loan and onsite use by community groups. A Memory Box provides many years of engagement and conversation for all those who use it, and ignites memories and positive emotions through the items stored within it.

Contact us at scealheritage@gmail.com or at 086 8891477 to chat about a Memory Box for your organisation, and the benefits that they provide for a variety of community groups. We can also provide informal and interactive Memory Box events during the Bealtaine festival.
